From October 2010 to July 2012 , I worked as a voluntary at a boarding school for girls under 15 years in Sibaté-Colombia. Most of the girls that were studying at the school have family problems (domestic violence, drug abuse, etc) or lack of economic resources. The first Saturday of every month me and a group of friends went to the boarding school in order to develop a socio-cultural activities with the girls, for instance: I helped them to do their homework, I gave them mathematics and english courses, we developed cultural activities such as poetry or tale contest, and we played with them. Last but no least, I listened the girls, I motivated them and I gave them an excellent pieces of advice aiming to help them to overcome their difficulties.
I play diatonic accordion. I am interested about this instrument because it is used in the Colombian's traditional music named “Vallenato”. This music style is very meaningful because it was used by my ancestor in order to transmit the culture and knowledge throughout generations.
In my life, the spark for social and environmental entrepreneurship is ignited. Currently, I am looking for new opportunities to develop/steer further my ideas/projects, create positive change through my work, and contribute with the sustainable development of our planet. Every single day I am trying to turn challenges into opportunities.
