An Atlantic Highlands, NJ, resident with a background in baseball spanning more than three decades, Darren Stumberger now focuses on coaching children and youth from ages 7-15. Working with kids in NJ and other East Coast states, Darren Stumberger emphasizes fundamental skills that improve the ability of young players to confidently excel on the field.
Growing up in Boca Raton, Florida, Mr. Stumberger stood out as a baseball talent in high school in the late 1980s, and was initially drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Rather than beginning his professional baseball career, he decided to pursue university studies. He played Division 1 baseball while attending the University of South Florida, where his consistent offensive success earned him All American status, as well as selection to the All Region Metro Conference list.
After college, Darren Stumberger played six seasons with the Cleveland Indians’ minor league teams, such as the Watertown Indians, Kinston Indians, Columbus Redstixx, and Akron Aeros. Hitting 68 home runs and driving in 353 runs, he achieved a respectable career batting average of .288.
