Former U.S. Army officer Dana Pittard serves as the vice president of defense programs at Allison Transmission in Indiana. In this capacity, he leads and oversees domestic and global defense programs operated by the company. These programs are located in more than 100 countries. Beyond that, Dana Pittard is in charge of managing the day-to-day operations of the Allison Defense Group.
Mr. Pittard joined Allison Transmission in 2015. This was the seventh consecutive year that the company had seen a decline in revenue. After taking on his current position, he increased revenue for Allison Defense for the next three years, amounting to a total 35 percent increase in overall revenue. He also made history as the first African American vice president at the company and was chosen as one of the Top 100 African American Corporate Executives in America by Savory Magazine in 2018.
Prior to accepting his current role, Dana Pittard spent several decades in the United States Army. During this time, he earned several awards and commendations, including the Bronze Star, Air Assault Badge, Airborne wings, Ranger Tab, Legion of Merit, and Defense Superior Service Medal. Near the end of his military career, he also earned the LivingWorks Community of Excellence Award for the suicide prevention and intervention programs he implemented at Fort Bliss.
