Damien Hansen

Office Manager with the University of San Francisco

Petaluma United States (California)
Employed Available
A resident of Petaluma, California, with a diverse professional history, Dr. Damien Hansen is currently an office manager at the University of San Francisco (USF). His duties with USF include coordinating all campus facility maintenance and repairs, scheduling and planning major on-campus recruitment events, developing technology guides and trainings, and facilitating campus-wide room scheduling. Damien also supports the director with the development and execution of the campus marketing plan as well as budgetary oversight.

In response to the devastating 2017 northern California fires, Damien leapt into action, volunteering at three different fire evacuation centers unloading and organizing donations, packaging and serving food, changing out bedding, and directing fire victims to needed supplies and services. He also helped unload vehicles and transport donations at the overflow relief center at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaluma. To further assist with disaster recovery efforts, Damien interviewed fire victims via phone at the Petaluma People Services Center to arrange temporary housing placements with local citizens who were willing to open their homes to displaced residents. Damien also helped with the ongoing organization and distribution of donations at USF’s Santa Rosa Campus for students and faculty members directly impacted by the fires. After learning that a significant portion of Cardinal Newman High School’s campus was destroyed, Damien orchestrated the creation of an emergency operations center to house displaced faculty and staff at USF. His timely and effective decision-making when confronted with the real-time, dynamic needs of high school personnel allowed administrators to quickly resume business operations. For his efforts during and after the crisis, Dr. Damien Hansen was awarded the William J. Dunne Award, the highest individual honor bestowed on a member of the University of San Francisco community for extraordinary service to the university and the community at large.

Dr. Damien Hansen is also a graduate of the 2017-2018 Leadership Petaluma class, a chamber of commerce-sponsored program that spans 10 months with a focus on leadership, civic engagement, and community service. Damien played a pivotal role in planning and executing the class project--renovating spaces at the local Salvation Army facility to create a desperately-needed support center for the Transitional-Aged Youth Service Alliance (TAYSA), a collaborative mentoring and advocacy program for at-risk youth. Dr. Hansen participated in several work days to help transform the space into a one-stop shop for youth to receive the care and case management they need to get back on their feet.

Before joining USF in 2015, Damien Hansen served more than a decade with the United States Navy, first as an intelligence analyst and operations team leader at Camp Parks in Dublin, California, and then as an air wing instructor and operations and administration department head with the Naval Strike & Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nevada. Damien Hansen also has served for more than seven years as both assistant director of admission and director of housing at Dominican University of California in San Rafael.
