Drawing on experience in the building trades dating back to the late 1960s, Covey Cowan serves as a project manager and supervisor for Van Acker Construction Associates in Mill Valley, California. Since joining the company in 2006, he has assisted clients with the design and execution of upscale, custom home projects. Throughout each build, Covey Cowan administers the budget, supervises all on-site construction work, and ensures progress proceeds according to schedule.
Prior to working with Van Acker Construction Associates, Covey Cowan spent a decade as founding owner of the general contractor Seneca Builders, Inc., through which he oversaw the completion of high-end residential construction projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. He directed a 40-member staff that handled remodeling and additions for existing homes, as well as the construction of new residences in architectural styles ranging from authentic Mediterranean and American Craftsman to the latest modern designs. Early in his career, Cowan collaborated with a business partner to build houses on speculation and then founded his first custom home building firm, which he operated from 1975 until 1995.
Active within the local community, Covey Cowan has given his time as a coach for his sons’ youth sports teams and volunteered with the Center for Attitudinal Healing to run group counseling sessions for people with terminal health conditions. He meditates daily and enjoys spending his free time hiking and biking in the mountains or reading books on subjects as diverse as American history and neuroscience.
