Chuck Podhorsky serves as principal of La Jolla High School, a part of the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD). Since assuming this administrative position in 2014, he has focused on developing an educational environment that engages staff members and encourages student achievement. Chuck Podhorsky came to La Jolla after nearly a decade at Hoover High School. There, he initially served as vice principal before accepting responsibilities as principal, a role he ultimately held for more than six years.

Chuck Podhorsky’s background in education also includes a position as a district program specialist. In this capacity, he oversaw the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program for SDUSD. Dr. Podhorsky maintains similar duties today as coordinator of the BTSA program at the San Diego State University City Heights Educational Collaborative. Also a lecturer, he has taught at the San Diego State School of Teacher Education since 2002.

Chuck Podhorsky began his career as an eighth-grade teacher with SDUSD. The recipient of a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of California, Los Angeles, he also holds an MA in educational leadership from San Diego State and a BA in sociology from the University of California, San Diego.
