Charles Schara is a longstanding presence in the Alexandra, VA, community who since 2014 has guided CGS Consulting, LLC, a firm with a focus on small businesses and the financial sphere. Charles Schara is tasked with setting in place management control systems and providing VA clients with board and management support that drives positive results.
A seasoned executive, Mr. Schara’s industry experience extends to the mid 1970s when he joined the Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary General Financial Systems, which became GEICO General. Holding qualifications as a CPA, he earned promotion to a position as senior financial reporting accountant in 1979. He was the firm’s first accountant focused on researching newly introduced GAAP reporting requirements pertaining to property and casualty insurance companies.
Mr. Schara’s accomplishments included serving as GEICO’s chairman of the board for benefits and he was integral in incorporating Berkshire stock within the company’s profit-sharing plan. He subsequently chaired the firm’s Corporate Payment Task Force and oversaw a host of customer payment and billing systems in ways that benefited both GEICO customers and the company.
