Carl Casale, a sustainable agriculture enthusiast, has served in senior executive positions across the AgTech sector. He has worked in multiple companies, improving financial systems and practices and spearheading AgTech investment efforts. Among the notable positions Carl Casale has held include the executive vice president of Monsanto.
At Monsanto, Mr. Casale rose from overseeing the U.S. commercial agricultural division to managing both North American and Latin America divisions. Business sectors he led at the global firm included cottonseed, biotechnology traits, corn and agricultural herbicides, among others. In addition, he led a team that successfully negotiated to acquire cross-technology licenses from Bayer and DuPont de Nemours to gain access to three genes needed to make SmartStax – a collaborative genetically modified seed. Mr. Casale also implemented key financial ratios and emphasized the responsible utilization of cash to achieve more earnings.
During his tenure as president and CEO of CHS Inc., a leading food, grains, and energy firm, he oversaw the $9 billion investment in new capital expenditures, lowered working capital to raise funds for investment, and managed to keep debt levels in check. Besides serving as the senior agricultural partner at Ospraie AG Science, where he aligns investment opportunities to meet sustainable food production, Carl Casale is also an independent board member at Syngenta.
