As an experienced distribution and logistics professional, Brad Berfield draws on an in-depth knowledge of supply chain operations. He has built a career that spans more than 25 years and in that time has facilitated improvements in transportation, distribution, and product import, as well as overall organizational effectiveness.
Brad Berfield began his career as a Transportation Analyst for Caldor Inc., a position he accepted following the receipt of his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Management. He then went on to receive his Masters of Business Administration degree from Binghamton University where he maintained a concentration in International Finance and Operations Management.
After subsequent service as a Production Supervisor and later a Production Operations Manager with Amphenol Interconnect Products, Brad Berfield accepted a management position with Brookstone Company. There, he restructured the import operations from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to reduce the cost of both ocean and air freight. He left Brookstone in the spring of 1997 to become a Supply Chain Strategy Manager for Wal-Mart, where he was promoted over time to become a General Manager of a 1.3 million square foot distribution center.
Brad Berfield went on from this role to direct distribution operations for Wegmans Food Markets, where he created an organizational structure that improved the efficiency of work processes and strengthened performance. Subsequently named Vice President of Distribution and Logistics for Coldwater Creek, he produced significant cost reductions by negotiating new inbound transportation contracts and redesigning a leadership structure to drive performance.
Responsible for Distribution and Transportation functions for a rapidly growing specialty value retailer offering a broad range of trend-right, high-quality merchandise targeted at the teen and pre-teen customer. Direct operations for a multi-unit distribution network that serves over 600 stores that feature a dynamic assortment of exciting products priced at $5 and below.
Maintained responsibility for the end-to-end supply chain for a leading specialty retailer of woman's apparel, jewelry, and accessories servicing 340 premium and 30 factory stores. Provided leadership for transportation, distribution, import operations, and customer contact centers. Directed all activities for an Omni-channel logistics network that supported both Retail and Direct-to-Consumer e-commerce operations.
Directed all phases of distribution operations for a premium grocery retailer. Provided leadership for multi-unit distribution operations, private fleet, and call center operations. Capital projects included warehouse management system implementation, mechanized system replacement, and facility expansion. Maintained a dynamic supply chain that provided the delivery of both perishable and non-perishable products to stores throughout the northeast.<
