A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Archie Parnell holds a bachelor’s and law degree that he leveraged to work as a lawyer for more than 40 years. Initially serving as a trial attorney at the US Department of Justice in Washington, DC., he has taken on such positions as tax attorney for Exxon Corporation and partner at Coudert Brothers’ in Asia. Most recently, Archie Parnell served as the head of the tax department and managing director at Goldman Sachs in Asia.

Through these positions, Parnell developed a strong understanding of the private sector. He became familiar with both international and domestic business operations and learned to manage difficult projects for major companies. Further, his involvement in the tax sector provided him with a great deal of experience handling various domestic and international tax matters.

Since ending his tenure at Goldman Sachs, Archie Parnell has focused his working on public policy and politics. Based in South Carolina, he is an accomplished public-policy commentator, frequently speaking about tax policy matters in the United States and Asia. In April 2019, he presented at the Hong Kong meeting of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and has been involved in several tax-related publications. Beyond that, Parnell ran for Congress in 2018.
