A leader in ovarian cancer research, Dr. Anil Sood began his career as a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida and then relocated to Iowa City, where he completed a three-year fellowship in gynecologic oncology. Honored in his final year of study with a young investigator award at the Fourth Joint Conference of the American Association for Cancer Research, Dr. Anil Sood has gone on to receive multiple prestigious awards.

Focused on research into ovarian and related cancers, Dr. Anil Sood has received the GCF/Claudia Cohen Research Foundation Prize for Outstanding Gynecologic Cancer Researchers as well as the Margaret Greenfield/Carmel Cohen Excellence in Ovarian Cancer Research Prize. He balances his research with service in multiple leadership positions at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he serves as vice chair of translational research and professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Cancer Biology.

Dr. Anil Sood also directs MD Anderson's Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program and co-directs both the Ovarian Cancer Moonshot Program and the Center for RNA Interference and Non-Coding RNA. A mentor to students and early career professionals as well, he extends his service to the broader community as a volunteer expert for OVARCOME and the Foundation for Women's Cancer.
