Amy Kenton oversees operations as CEO at Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligence Charter School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The school integrates multiple-intelligences theory into its curriculum and strives to develop independent, self-motivated learners. As CEO, Amy Kenton handles responsibilities often typical of superintendents and principals, including running Board of Education meetings; planning, developing and implementing common core standards; and overseeing timely reporting to federal and state agencies. She also played an integral role in the school’s relocation to a new facility in the summer of 2013.
Prior to taking on her current position, Amy Kenton served as the vice principal of Evergreen Charter School in Hempstead, New York, where she worked to enhance the school’s approaches to literacy, while also improving the mathematics program through the introduction of new software. Amy Kenton earlier held the position of K-12 director of curriculum and instructional technology at Baldwin Union Free School District and K-12 director of guidance and assessment at East Hampton Union Free School District in New York. She most recently earned a doctor of education in educational leadership and policy studies at Hofstra University, and she also holds a master’s degree in American studies from Columbia University.
