- ROLE - IT manager Gothenburg.
- CHALLENGE - Rebuild IT Service Delivery. Old Service Delivery organisation disbanded years earlier together with the Mainframe systems it supported. Company now suffered from unmanaged PC-systems ("distributed anarchy").
- METHOD - "Internal Outsourcer” - reconstituted IT steering committee, developed departmental Product Owner teams, consolidated-, concentrated-, and upgraded IT infrastructure.
- OUTCOME - growth in performance and capacity, successfully merging, and doubling in size. Mature IT organisation.
- OTHER ROLES/TASKS:
- » Manager IT operations, Network Manager, and regional IT-coordinator (Göteborg, Vänersborg, and Uddevalla).
- » Expanded/upgraded NetWare, NDS, and Windows NT; disbanded VAX, and AIX.
- » Managed the IT-related projects for the co-location of all SWECO companies in Gothenburg.
- » LAN upgrade Gothenburg office. 10BASE2/10BASE5 > 100BASETX over CAT5. VLAN separation.
- » IT-transformation from flat access control lists (Bindery) to Directory Service (NDS); delegating control over projects and data to production units. This required upgrade from NetWare 3 to NetWare 4.
- » Design and implementation of new NDS-design for the VBB-group (55 branch offices connected by everything from ISDN to T1 WAN-connections).
- » Design and implementation of regional DR-strategy. Introducing DR/DA-solution with HA-solution (VINCA), and backup and archiving solution.
- » Upgraded older CAD document Management system; changed ways-of-working from LAN to WAN-based.
- » Fleet printer management - streamlining queues, standardising on platforms and print servers.
- » Replacement of old rented Alcatel PBX w. more capable system from Phillips.
- » Participated in project to merge IT-departements of the VBB-Group and FFNS.
