Al Copley has been performing and recording as a jazz artist for over 50 years. He was a founding member of Roomful of Blues, a Grammy Award-nominated jump band for which he played and arranged from the late 1960s through 1984. In that year, Al Copley moved to Europe, where he developed a reputation as a popular festival and concert artist.
Since returning to the United States in 2010, Al Copley has continued to perform regularly in Europe as well as on the East Coast. He has performed off-Broadway on numerous occasions and is a resident artist at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. He holds the same position with the Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad, Switzerland.
Al Copley has performed many times on the Main Stage at Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival, where he played on several B.B. King, Etta James, and Concerts Acoustiques jams. He was also included in the inaugural Montreux Japan Jazz Festival He has brought Al Copley's Blues Train to the Bern International Jazz Festival, and he appeared regularly at Paris's Le Caveau de la Huchette.
A featured performer on radio and television in both the United State and Europe, Mr. Copley played for the annual UNICEF gala on air in Germany for many years. His numerous recordings include the solo piano album Stardust, Live at Montreux, and Blue Paris Nights, which Keyboard Magazine's French Edition named No. 2 Record of the Year.
